Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certification
Certificate Program

The State of California has mandated that by 2010 every Alcohol and Drug Counselor practicing in treatment centers, hospitals, drug courts, community based organizations, and government agencies in the state of California must be certified!

This program provides professional training for everyone involved in the treatment of addiction. Once you have completed the training you will be eligible to become a Registered Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Participation in this program will guarantee that you will exceed the minimum number of hours required by the state, you will fulfill all of the CAADAC basic certification requirements, through a program that encompasses the coursework for numerous state, national and international addiction treatment credentials.

This is an 18-month program, designed with 10 modules of instruction. Classes are held in the evenings and on occasional Saturdays for the convenience of working adults.

The fee is $5990 for the entire 18-month program. You can pay for the entire program or pay in three installments:

• $1,198 due before the first class meeting
• $1,797 due before the third class meeting
• $2,995 due before the sixth class meeting

• Individuals currently working in the field and need to satisfy the new state certification requirements for drug and alcohol counselors
• Individuals currently studying for their degree and would like to become certified simultaneously to get a jump start on their career
• Individuals new to the field, but don't want to complete a formal degree program
• Individuals seeking *CAADAC certification and need to fulfill the basic requirements

• A minimum of 315 hours of classroom instruction, plus 255 hours of on-site clinical instruction, and 45 hours of supervised practicum

• A certificate of completion, awarded by CSULB.
• Documentation of clinical hours.
• Once you have concluded this training you will be eligible to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Associate (CADCA).
