| Friday, March 4, 2005 Meeting Topic:Finding Solutions: Bridging the Gap Between Systems Engineering Requirements and Software Engineering
Abstract Based on the discussion at the January and February 2005 SC SPIN meetings, the attached survey was developed to get your inputs on the best ways to address the problem of software defects due to poor requirements development and/or management. Please feel free to add your votes and email to Warren.Scheinin@ngc.com by Wednesday, March 2 to help us pick the areas of greatest interest. Then join us at the March 4 meeting to discuss the survey and to contribute your knowledge and experience to define how to proceed to identify best practices for the more interesting solutions proposed. If there is enough agreement, we will form into focus groups to explore the top four or five solutions and investigate the state of the art in implementing them. The outputs from these focus groups will then be used to write a white paper. This white paper will be a starting point for the SC SPIN to propose best practices in bridging the gap between systems engineering requirements and software engineering. SPECIAL LOCATION:
Please do not bring pagers, cell phones, computers or other electronic equipment, as you will be asked to put them in your car before entering the building. Sorry, security, you know. If you are unsure if you will attend, provide the information anyway and say that you are unsure. If you RSVPed to the January meeting, I already have this information. Non- NG employees who do not provide information in advance can sign in that morning with identification, but then you will have to be escorted when in the building. If you wish to receive email flyers of future meetings please send a blank email, with a subject line of "subscribe" to: spin@uces.csulb.edu SoCal
