Measurement and Statistical Insight in Achieving High Maturity in CMMI

Abstract

The presentation addresses the issues associated with effectively implementing statistical process control (SPC) to manage and improve development processes. The expected usage of other statistical techniques in achieving CMMI Level 4 and 5 will also be discussed. The specific topics covered include:

The objective is to try to clarify the concepts and practices underlying mature processes defined in CMMI.

Your Presenter: Dr. Bin Cong is a Professor and Coordinator of the Master Program in Software Engineering at the Department of Computer Science at Cal State at Fullerton. He is also a SEI authorized Introduction to CMMI Instructor and a SEI certified CMMI High Maturity Lead Appraiser. He has broad experiences in model based process improvement and in applying Statistical Process Control (SPC) in software development process. He has had over 100 publications and served as the CTO in a software firm in Silicon Valley. Overall, Dr. Cong has 25 years experience that includes research and teaching in different universities as well as conducting consulting/training in industry. His experience in both industry and academics enables him to have both theoretical and practical perspectives in applications of High Maturity practices.
