Meeting Topic:

A Model Centric approach to CMMI – “HARMONY”

Presenters: Dennis Andrews & Dennis Chun

Abstract

" It is a simple task to make things complex, but a complex task to make things simple ”- Meyer's law

"Work smarter, not harder" is a commonly heard cliché. This certainly sounds nice, but how is it actually accomplished? The best answer is to eliminate unnecessary work, concentrating only on the essential work.

A Model Centric approach provides a basis for Concurrent Engineering. This provides an increased understanding of the roles and responsibilities of all the other functions, increasing the effective teamwork.

This presentation will cover an Integrated Systems and Software Engineering process that has been applied successfully within defense and commercial organizations. It provides a process that seamlessly integrates functional (i.e. SE) and object (i.e. SWE) modeling. It applies UML 2.0 as well as the concepts proposed within the SysML.

Your Presenters: Dennis Andrews is the manager for Defense and Aerospace market for I-Logix. His focus over the last 12 years has been Model Driven Development using Executable Models. Some of the organizations that he has participated in the deployment of MDD include: Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, etc… the largest deployment being 800+ engineers at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.

Dennis Chun is the Regional Engineer supporting the deployment of Model Driven Development solutions for Systems and Software Engineering. Some of the organizations that he has participated in the deployment of MDD include: Boeing, Northrop Grumman, ITT etc…He has over 15 years experience in Software Engineering and Management.
