| Friday, June 03, 2005 Meeting Topic:Management Introduction to Function Point Analysis Presenter: Scott Goldfarb Abstract The use of Function Points is critical to the management of software systems. Function Point Analysis is a proven, reliable method for measuring software development work-products. The resulting work-product is expressed in terms of functionality as seen from the customer's perspective. Function Point Analysis, therefore, is extremely useful in communicating requirements as well as measuring productivity and quality, estimating projects and managing change of scope. This session will provide the participants with the fundamental concepts behind Function Points Analysis. The usage and benefits of function points will also be demonstrated. Your Presenters: Scott Goldfarb is an international consultant, instructor and speaker with over thirty years of software experience. Scott specializes in helping organizations improve software quality and productivity through measurement. He has assisted numerous organizations in the implementation of Software Measurement and Estimating Programs. His other areas of expertise include benchmarking, software development methodologies, outsourcing management and process improvement. Scott is President of Q/P Management Group. Scott has been certified by the International Function Point Users Group (IFPUG) as a Certified Function Point Specialist (CFPS). Scott has served on the IFPUG Board of Directors since 1997 and was President of IFPUG from 2001 to 2003. Scott has spoken at numerous conferences including the International Function Point Users Group (IFPUG), Applications of Software Measurement (ASM), Practical Software Quality Techniques (PSQT) and the Quality Assurance Institute (QAI).
